| Dear Students,
I am happy to let you know that Beverly Burke will teach a Gentle Yoga Class this Spring session on Saturday mornings from 10-11:30. This class will offer a slower, less rigorous introduction to basic asana and pranayama. Bev’s knowledge and skill in movement therapies as well as her welcoming and supportive style will create an environment where all students, even the very stiff or out of shape, can benefit from the vitalizing effects of yoga.
Yoga is not headstands or pretzel-like positions, although these actions may be a part of an individual’s practice. Yoga is a process, a systematic technique for harmonizing the parts of ourselves, body, mind and emotion, so that we can act in the world with strength, coordination and purpose. The different classes at First Street Yoga may look dissimilar with different paces and different asanas. However, these external differences highlight what we have in common. Yoga is a tool to enable each individual to create a unique path to their own best self. We share the same pursuit as we engage in this ancient process of self-discovery.
Namasté,
